To celebrate the fourth anniversary of their project, Polaroid of the Day, creators Andrés Aguilar Caro and Alina Cvetkova have dove into their expansive archive of guest photographers from their Polaroid obsessed website to invite 30 of their best for a special exhibition! Curated by Anna García, from Escalera de Incendio, this event will be one of the most unique events happening in Barcelona during Young Gallery Weekend, a Festival of Independent Art in Barcelona that works with spaces and independent and emerging proposals to generate an avant-garde movement in the city.
The exhibition, titled "The Decisive Light", asked 30 of the curated artists to chose a single image that represented the universal photographic theme of light and their relationship to it. Every image in the upcoming show reflects the metaphysics or theology of light; a line of thought within an aesthetic philosophy that identifies light with divine beauty. Though all of the selected photographer's images have something in common: their delicate way of working with their main protagonist, the light; each artist's piece is as unique as the participants are geographically diverse.
This diverse showing of international artists and photographic content will be held from September 1st to October 8th, 2017 at Projekteria Art Gallery, a young gallery specializing in photography in the neighborhood of Poble Sec in Barcelona. The opening of the exhibition will be on September 1st at 7:00pm where you will be able to meet and greet some of the photographers who are participating in the show. In the evening, the celebration will be followed by an after-party at La Federica in El Poble-sec. Throughout the month long exhibition there will be numerous special events related to the Polaroid world including: an instant photography workshop for beginners, a double exposure workshop with SX-70 cameras with French photographer Marjolaine Vuarnesson, and a workshop on large format instant photography by photographer Efrén Razkin.
This event includes some past PRYME artists such as Sven van Driessche, Herr Merzi, Anthony Stone, and Urizen Freaza! (See the full list of artists below.) This is an exciting and unique event filled with immense talent and diversity! Make sure to add this event to your calendar and head over to the Facebook Event Page to RSVP and read all details!
